A browser-based S1000D™ viewer system allows local users to view S1000D compliant documentation on a standalone basis, or while connected to a server over an Intranet or the Internet. Interact provides a flexible publishing capability to view the same format on screen as on paper or PDF. The familiar look throughout the viewing process enables S1000D users to save time and increase productivity. Once the information has been authored, Interact is the ultimate tool for viewing information compiled from the Common Source Data Base (CSDB). The S1000D viewer organizes and simplifies the navigation of massive amounts of highly detailed documentation, resulting in richer and more robust Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM).

S1000Dinteract Benefits

  • View S1000D documents in a familiar environment
  • Eliminate costly software installations
  • Supports both connected and disconnected operations
  • Accommodate customer-specific requirements
  • Search for information quickly and easily

Detailed Features

Browser-Based S1000D Viewer Software

Eliminates need for any bothersome and costly software installations on the user’s machine. For those instances where a network is unavailable, Interact’s unique deployment configuration supports both connected and disconnected operations to suite the user’s needs.

Ease of Delivery

Works in conjunction with existing S1000D authoring and management tools, automatically formatting the composite information and displaying it to the user. Depending on the user’s needs, the information can be accessed over a network or locally.

Powerful Data Access

S1000D Document Navigation

The viewer provides multiple methods of navigation through the document. User can navigate a Table of Contents, a product Standard Numbering System (SNS), and next or back in content either linearly or through navigation history.

Change Bars

Changes are highlighted on a screen that compares information in the current document to a previous version. Sections of the data that have been changed, added or modified are highlighted in green. Data that has been deleted are in red. Users can also choose to display “Reason for Change” if provided by the author.

Global Search Capability

S1000D authors are able to search for information in a specific Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) or search across all manuals within the system. Allows you to further filter the search content by model, section, subject, chapter, subsection, or infocode.

Bookmarks, Hotspots & Annotations

Bookmarks help guide the user back to specific sections. Annotations can be used to highlight critical content. Complex graphics can be displayed with hotspots and magnification. Using the Figures Tab, users can reference a complete list of figures utilized in a specific Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM).

References

Links can be created to URLS or files on disk and referenced from a link in the publication.

Consistent displayRobust and Flexible Viewing Capabilities

S1000D Project Customization

A flexible architecture allows you to quickly and easily respond to customer-specific customization requirements for presentation, such as the Graphical User Interface (GUI) or different layout requirement. The integrity of the S1000D source data structure is maintained, while customizing the appearance of the presentation or modifying the look and feel of the content. Authoring systems and data formats can be used interchangeably, without altering the viewing system. You control the look and feel without distorting the information.

Consistent Presentation

Creates consistency and structure by presenting the user with the same format on screen as they are accustomed to seeing on paper versions or PDF. Printing from Inmedius’ S1000D viewer has the same look and feel, consistent with documents printed from the authoring environment. This ensures a consistent format for the user throughout the S1000D viewing and printing process.

Context Sensitive Troubleshooting

When a Fault occurs, Interact provides context sensitive troubleshooting by displaying a specific S1000D Data Module (DM) based on that Fault Code. While uploading a technical manual, a mapping of Fault Codes to Data Modules (DMs) is generated by Interact Only Fault Isolation, Isolated Faults, Detected Faults and Observed Faults will be stored. Interact will examine the generated mapping file to determine the appropriate action. If only one Data Module (DM) entry exists against the Fault Code, then the Data Module (DM) will be loaded. If more than one Data Module (DM) entry exists, then a page will appear which lists all the associated Data Modules (DMs). When the user chooses one of the Data Modules (DMs), Interact will load the appropriate page.

Enhanced Security with Single Sign-On

Users can access the S1000D viewer without requiring a user login. User passwords can now be managed by Active Directory. Interact privileges will be maintained with the system and will not be provided by the OS credentials. Privileges will be based on the Interact system capabilities provided to that user.

Configuration Options

The following configuration options have been added to Connected Interact:

  • Postfix figure and table numbers with a period, including;
    • Figure titles (captions) in the content
    • Figure titles in the Figures tab of the navigation pane
    • Table titles in the content
  • Configure the display of Reference and Preliminary data sections:
    • Show/Hide in Table of Contents
    • Show/Hide as inline headings or table titles

Specification Issue 4.0 Support

The complete set of functionality within S1000Dinteract now supports Issue 4.0 of the S1000D Specification. The current software release includes support for the following S1000D Data Modules (DM) or document types:
  • Crew/Operator
  • Publication
  • Descriptive
  • Schedule
  • Fault
  • Wiring Data
  • Illustrated Parts Data (IPD)
  • Wiring Data Description
  • Procedural

Additional Features

  • Ability to resize the navigation, content and graphic frames in Connected Interact.
  • Search results in Connected Interact are highlighted in yellow.
  • The Quick-switch dropdown in Connected Interact now displays publication titles rather than module codes.
  • Ability to generate a discrepancy report from Connected Interact.
  • When installing on Oracle®, the user has the ability to define a User and Password for the database schema that is created.

S1000D Technical Documentation Publication ProcessThe Power of Integration

Interact and the integrated S1000D Publishing Suite™ is a complete, end-to-end solution to successfully manage the technical documentation publication process. The Commercial Off-The-Shelf software is easy to use, implement and maintain resulting in your organization producing powerful Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM). Breakthrough features are changing the landscape of technical publishing, making every facet of your S1000D implementation possible. Only with an integrated solution can rules established by project managers be so effectively and automatically carried out from start-up through authoring to final delivery.

Inmedius’ S1000D viewer works in conjunction with the Inmedius S1000Dmanager™ to provide intelligent Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) for delivery. The information can be accessed over a network or locally, depending on the needs of the user. Users can report information defects using Interact’s discrepancy reporting capabilities, and then instantly make them available for S1000D Data Module authors who can then post them back as a comment in the S1000Dmanager environment. This tight integration greatly increases the likelihood that problems will be reported and addressed by the appropriate S1000D author resulting in the highest quality Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP).
