Detailed Features
S1000D Project Management
Library Storage, View of S1000D Data
A powerful library system allows users to access and view information in a structured manner. Through the library, multiple S1000D projects are managed. Users navigate information as they would in a Content Management System (CMS), with the library arranged in a
Standard Numbering System (SNS) structure, organized by each Model Identifier within the Project. SNS structures are stored in their own document and may be edited separately. Information Codes are maintained per SNS and are mapped to a
S1000D Data Module (DM) type.

S1000D Managed Projects
Access to application functions are available as easy-to-use buttons attached to the S1000D project, rather than as global access through forms. Project information is managed from within the document library, enabling users to initiate new projects, define S1000D Data Modules (DMs), create and manage Illustration Control Numbers (ICN) and Data Module Codes (DMC), track Data Module Requirements Lists (DMRL), and define and maintain project configurations. Business Rules Exchange (BREX) allows separate projects to share configurations. Functions, such as Data Dispatch Notice (DDN) Export and Publish, are assessable directly from the project link in the Library.

|
User Controlled Project Access & Privileges
Manage and control S1000D projects for globally separated teams. Multiple users -- with the appropriate security privileges -- have access to the form and can edit project information. Users are assignable to a S1000D project, indicating that they have access to data within that project. Projects are not viewable without access privileges.
|
Workflow Capabilities
Sophisticated workflow technology ensures that all S1000D authoring and content revisions are approved in accordance with your organization’s accepted business standards.
|
Version Control
Promote a secure environment where project groups have the most current and up-to-date information available at all times.
Commenting Capabilities
Supports two comment methods:
- Formal S1000D system
- Internal request for comments

S1000D Data Module Management
S1000D Issue 4.0 Document Editing & Management
Manager, in conjunction with Inmedius S1000DauthorPro™, supports the ability to manage and edit Issue 4.0 data structures. Manager supports full status management of Issue 4.0 Data Modules (DMs). Legacy versions of the specification, back to Issue 1.8 are also supported.
|
Store, Manage, & Retrieve S1000D Data Modules
Store, manage and retrieve S1000D Data Modules (DMs) from one or more projects. Easily track the authoring process and update essential content when necessary. Reuse any and all data components. System users can ensure that proper controls are always available:
- Issues and modification dates automatically tracked
- Quality assurances, validity and verification status
- Applicable S1000D Data Module (DM) security
- Current status for the entire S1000D Data Module (DM)s

|
Search/Filter S1000D Data Modules
Users gain robust search and filtering capabilities using Data Module Code (DMC) breakdown, project name, issue date, issue type, issue number, and more.
|
Publication Modules & Publishing
You can also manage all Publication Modules (PMs) for each individual project. Users are able to extract and synchronize Pulication Module (PM) for each Data Module Requirement List (DMRL), and store and control applicability and effectivity information. Manager integrates publishing capabilities for exporting to S1000Dinteract™, and S1000Dtransition™.
|
Data Module Requirements Lists Managed as Documents
As XML documents with a lifecycle, Data Module Requirement Lists (DMRLs) are managed as separate documents that can be created, merged, revised, imported, and removed as needed. Check out, issue and approve Data Module Requirement List DMRLs, which have their own workflow. Maintain control with issue numbers and dates, as well as Quality Assurance and workflow status.

Audit Trails and Reporting
Monitor Organizational Efficiency
The centralized Inmedius Dashboard provides complete transparency and a visual representation of the S1000D technical documentation process. Quantitative metrics allow the publication manager to monitor organizational efficiency and identify choke points in the process. Managers are able to identify problem points and adjust resources as necessary to ensure project deliveries are on time and within budget.
|
Microsoft® Project & Excel Integration
Users gain insight into the key components of S1000D documentation development. Schedules are defined and maintained within the system. Costs are examined and analyzed through custom, user-defined spreadsheets.
Time-Stamped Audit Trails
Any changes made to a S1000D Data Module (DM) are documented with a detailed, time-stamped audit trail, creating awareness and assigning responsibility. The system tracks when a S1000D project has been created and to whom it was assigned for a particular role as it moves through a process. Who edits a S1000D Data Module (DM) or project, when it was edited, and what changes were made is also tracked, as well as when a document is transferred to another process, and when it is archived. This creates awareness and responsibility by providing details for all documents that have been edited or altered.
Discrepancy Reporting
Errors that do not conform to the S1000D protocol are quickly and easily detected, ensuring that all S1000D technical documents are in compliance with the Specification.
Validation Support
Provides Quality Assurance check of S1000D Data Module (DM) on check-in or import. Manager can be integrated with Inmedius Advisor™ Server to ensure strict enforcement of organizational rules for check-in/import.

Reporting
Standard, system-level reports are provided for management visibility of work accomplishments, including;
- User Report shows the current status of all work for a specified named user or group of users, including workflow process and role participation.
- Process Report shows all current active work, workflow progress, tasks, owners, and number of tasks archived during the selected reporting period.
- Elapsed Time Report shows the durations for all current tasks within the range and scope of the report. If expected durations are defined for the reported process, overdue tasks will be noted as such in the report.
Manager allows for additional pre-defined and user-defined reports. Through ‘drag and drop’, a user can create a report based on selected fields and their content in the Manager form. |

The Power of Integration
Manager and the integrated Inmedius S1000D Publishing Suite™ is a complete, end-to-end S1000D solution to successfully manage the technical documentation publication process. Only with an integrated solution can rules established by project managers be so effectively and automatically carried out from start-up through S1000D authoring to final delivery.
Working seamlessly with S1000DauthorPro™ on multiple levels, provides visibility and access to data stored in the CSDB for the benefit of authors and project managers. The combination empowers writers to work more effectively, while still maintaining rigorous project control.
The power of Manager and AuthorPro extends to S1000Dinteract™ and S1000Dtransition™ where it appropriately renders all the knowledge inherent in the S1000D Common Source Database (CSDB), and more, to the information delivery process. Interact properly formats and displays information that may be accessed over a network or locally, depending on the needs of the user. Users report information defects using discrepancy reporting capabilities. Errors can be instantly available for authors to view in their native AuthorPro environment. Transition transfers all the power stored in the S1000D Data Module (DM) specifications into their logical equivalents in other formats, including PDF, print, and a variety of commercial and military equipment specifications.
Manager also fully integrates with S1000Dreview™, the online S1000D commenting engine, allowing disparate teams to make centralized comments on a single data set. Comments are directly sent to Manager in order to re-author or revise the affected S1000D Data Module (DM). Comments can be emailed or automatically inserted and associated within a specific S1000D Data Module (DM) in the S1000D Common Source Database (CSDB).
Working in conjunction with both Manager and AuthorPro, S1000Dinstructor™, provides access to one, or many, S1000D objects and transforms them into SCORM-compliant output. This automated, disciplined process allows the author to reuse smaller sub-sections of the S1000D information, and to inject training multimedia objects and relate them to the S1000D content. |
